Corel (Corel S.R.L.) is an Italian manufacturer of wooden ship model kits based in Milan, Italy. Corel has been making models of period and modern ships since 1971, building a reputation over more than five decades for historically accurate, high-quality static display kits aimed at ship modeling enthusiasts. The company is known for using top-quality materials with almost no plastic parts: selected hardwoods in various shades, cast and gilded metal fittings, and photo-etched brass or copper parts, together with a "fully pre-cut" system wherever possible so that wooden parts are pre-cut and ready for assembly. Most models use traditional plank-on-frame or plank-on-bulkhead construction, often with double planking, and kits typically include multi-lingual instructions, sail cloth, rigging line, and detailed multi-sheet plans. Corel's catalog spans roughly 1:24 to 1:100 scale and includes well-known historic sailing ships and warships such as the Wasa, HMS Bellona, Wappen von Hamburg, Prins Willem, Half Moon, and the modern training ship Corsaro II, as well as smaller traditional craft like the Italian Paranza fishing boat. Their kits are distributed internationally, including through longtime exclusive distributors such as Krick Modelltechnik in Germany.
