This Midwest "Apprentice Series" kit (level 3) uses micro-cut basswood and cherry parts with a laser-cut building jig base, forms, stems and decks for easier hull construction. The box includes a full-size rolled plan sheet plus a separate, illustrated step-by-step construction manual, and the finished model represents a strip-planked "cottager's canoe" style hull. Some parts still require cutting, fitting, shaping and fabricating, so basic wood modeling tools are needed beyond what's in the box.
