Prototype ship: Chaperon
Wood-and-metal kit with an extensive number of laser-cut basswood and limewood parts forming the hull, superstructure, paddlewheel, gangplank and railings. Includes ready-to-use Britannia metal fittings (lifeboat, lanterns, capstan, whistle), a photo-etched brass sheet for ornamental railings/trim, additional brass parts (bell, eyebolts, cleats, nails), hardwood blocks, and three diameters of rigging line. The box contains six sheets of plans plus assembly instructions, with design/plans/prototype model by Bob Crane; Model Expo notes that previous modeling experience is helpful for this build.
