About the kit

This Constructo kit depicts the 14-gun US Navy schooner Enterprise built at Baltimore in 1799. Construction is plank-on-frame, with the modeler forming the hull by attaching Sapelly wood strips over a false keel and frames (other listings describe it with cast metal, hardwood and brass fittings including 14 turned brass cannon). The box includes cast-iron gunports, anchor and bow decorations, brass fittings (chimney, spiders, rings, chain plate wire, rudder hinges, toggles), beige cloth sails, a cloth American flag, four rolls of rigging thread in two colors/weights, two plan sheets, a display base and assembly instructions; wood types used include Ayous, Ramin, Sapelly, Mansonia and Beech boxwood. One retailer notes the manufacturer is based in Spain and the included English instructions are limited, requiring some modeling experience rather than a strict build-by-numbers approach.
